Nomadic [inter] subjectivity
A design anthropological lens and inter-subjective perspective mobilises Rosi Braidotti’s nomadic subject (1994) to expand understanding of social change's ethical and artistic dimension through cultural relocations and multi-perspective storytelling. My research lens includes an auto-ethnographic perspective of lifelong relations with Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian context. This complex ethnocultural positioning, informed by a multi-located upbringing and diverse lifestyle, views knowledge as an ecology based on movement rather than stasis. Navigating a career in the fashion industry and living in Bali for over eighteen years informed my movement beyond fashion-related activity and back to the West. Living change in this way has enabled research outputs where Bali becomes a metaphor for a place of becoming, a receptiveness to alternative modes of being.
